![]() ![]() Property is lovely with flowers and pretty lights at night. We loved the town of Seward and the cabin location! There are 3 cabins right on the water and others across the street. There were rubber boots to borrow and fishing poles too. It said check in was 4pm but we were able to check in more like 2p which was nice after a long day of travel the day prior. I guess I was supposed to call as we were headed that way. We only saw the man (assuming he was the owner) and spoke to the woman on the phone who kind of chastised me for calling before we actually arrived. Also, there is some apparent foundation issue with sinking or leaning on the cabin which I'm sure they plan to address. In other words you don't step in, it's just a drain in the floor surrounded by a shower curtain. It is too dark and the shower is like a wet space. The bathroom is the only thing I didn't care for but it def wasn't awful. Internet is available but it was very slow so we just used our own w Verizon. The water out of the tap is delicious so no need to buy water bottles. The cabin offers a grill (which we never used), a fire pit, coffee maker, toaster, etc. Def book the van transport thru Anchorage office and not the local guy "Bob" or there is way too much confusion. I read all of the reviews and some were negative but we had an awesome day kayaking! You are few miles from the grocery store but town is about a mile so just perfect! We rented a car in Anchorage (from Hertz) then left it in Seward and took Seward "bus" Lines (which was really just a crappy van) to Whittier to catch a Princess Cruise. You can walk down the street about a block and do any type of water excursion you want from Milller's Landing. We ended up just eating a light breakfast and picking up sandwiches from grocery (which are really great esp for the price). Fridge is like a dorm fridge so it was difficult to keep veggies from freezing. It is a small one bedroom cabin but with the basic essentials. You wake up and go to sleep with both water and mountain views. Cannot beat the views from the Gatehouse Cabin! It is literally right on the water.
